Cross-Text Connections au SAT
Cross-Text Connections gives you two short passages on the same topic and asks how the second author would respond to the first. The answer has to come from what the second text says, not from your own view of the subject.

À quoi ressemblent les questions
Two passages of roughly 50 to 100 words each, followed by choices describing a relationship: the second author would agree, would qualify the claim, or would offer a different explanation.
L'erreur qui coûte des points
Answering from passage one alone, or from what you happen to know about the topic. Choices that misstate the second passage are the most common wrong answers here.
Comment la traiter
Summarize each passage's position in one sentence, then name the exact point where they part. Find the choice that captures that specific difference rather than a vague disagreement.

Questions sur Cross-Text Connections
- How are the two passages usually related?
- Most often the second passage adds a qualification, offers a competing explanation for the same evidence, or extends the first author's claim to a new case. Naming which of those is happening narrows the choices quickly.
- What if both passages seem to agree?
- Then the correct answer will describe agreement precisely, often with a condition attached. Choices that claim a disagreement the passages do not have are wrong even when they sound sophisticated.
- How many Cross-Text Connections questions are on the SAT?
- College Board does not publish a count per question type, only per content domain. Craft and Structure makes up about 28 percent of the Reading and Writing section, which is roughly 14 of the 50 scored Reading and Writing questions on a full form. Questions on this skill come out of that share.
