À quoi ressemblent les questions
A dot plot, histogram, or table with a question comparing center or spread, often by asking which measure changes when a value is added or replaced.
L'erreur qui coûte des points
Assuming mean and median move together. An extreme value pulls the mean and leaves the median where it was, and questions are built on that gap.
Comment la traiter
Sketch the shape before answering. Skewed data separates the mean and median, and a question about spread is asking about distance from the center rather than the size of the numbers.

Questions sur One-variable data: Distributions and measures of center and spread
- How do you find the median from a frequency table?
- Count the values rather than the rows. Add the frequencies to find the total, locate the middle position, and read the value that sits there, averaging the two middle values when the total is even.
- What is standard deviation measuring on these questions?
- How far the values typically sit from the mean. A tighter cluster has a smaller standard deviation, so comparisons are about which data set is more spread out, not about how many values it holds.
- How many One-variable data: Distributions and measures of center and spread questions are on the SAT?
- College Board does not publish a count per question type, only per content domain. Problem-Solving and Data Analysis makes up about 15 percent of the Math section, which is roughly 6 of the 40 scored Math questions on a full form. Questions on this skill come out of that share.

- PercentagesPercentages asks for percent change, a percent of a quantity, or the original value after a change.
- Two-variable data: Models and scatterplotsTwo-variable data asks you to read a line of best fit: what its slope means, how a prediction uses it, and how far the points sit from it.
- Probability and conditional probabilityProbability asks for the chance of an outcome from a table or a description, and the conditional version narrows the question to one group.
