À quoi ressemblent les questions
A two-way table with a question such as the probability that a student who studies music also plays a sport, or a described random selection.
L'erreur qui coûte des points
Dividing by the grand total when the question is conditional. A conditional probability divides by the group named in the given clause, not by everyone in the table.
Comment la traiter
Underline the given first. That group's total becomes the denominator, and the count you want becomes the numerator. Without a given clause, the denominator is the grand total.

Questions sur Probability and conditional probability
- How do you read a two-way table for conditional probability?
- The row or column named by the given clause supplies both numbers. Read across that row for the count you want, and use the row's total as the denominator.
- What does independent mean in a probability question?
- That one outcome does not change the chance of the other, so the joint probability is the product of the two. In a table, independence shows up as matching conditional probabilities across groups.
- How many Probability and conditional probability questions are on the SAT?
- College Board does not publish a count per question type, only per content domain. Problem-Solving and Data Analysis makes up about 15 percent of the Math section, which is roughly 6 of the 40 scored Math questions on a full form. Questions on this skill come out of that share.
