Cómo son las preguntas
A scatterplot with a line of best fit, or a model described in words, asking for the meaning of the slope, a predicted value, or the size of a residual.
El error que cuesta puntos
Describing the slope as a total instead of a rate, and trusting a prediction far outside the range the data cover.
Cómo resolverlas
Say the slope out loud as the change in y per one more unit of x. Most of these questions are answered by that sentence, and the wrong choices usually swap the two variables.

Preguntas sobre Two-variable data: Models and scatterplots
- What does a residual tell you?
- How far one point sits above or below the line of best fit. A positive residual means the actual value is higher than the model predicted, and a point above the line always has one.
- How do you interpret the y-intercept of a model?
- It is the predicted value when x is zero, which only means something in context if a zero input makes sense for the situation you were given.
- How many Two-variable data: Models and scatterplots questions are on the SAT?
- College Board does not publish a count per question type, only per content domain. Problem-Solving and Data Analysis makes up about 15 percent of the Math section, which is roughly 6 of the 40 scored Math questions on a full form. Questions on this skill come out of that share.

- PercentagesPercentages asks for percent change, a percent of a quantity, or the original value after a change.
- One-variable data: Distributions and measures of center and spreadOne-variable data asks you to read a distribution: mean, median, range, standard deviation, and how one added value shifts each of them.
- Probability and conditional probabilityProbability asks for the chance of an outcome from a table or a description, and the conditional version narrows the question to one group.
